Charlie Woods makes first career hole-in-one at 2024 PNC Championship

Can you believe it?

Charlie Woods made an ace for his first career hole-in-one.

It came on the par-3 fourth hole at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, vaulting Team Woods into sole possession of the lead at 17 under.

“We heard it up on the green on the right and left but we were totally unsure until the TV confirmed it,” Tiger said. “And we went nuts. I don’t know what we did but we enjoyed it. It was an unbelievable moment. I was talking to Todd [Lewis of Golf Channel] out there, and that two-hole stretch, that was his first eagle he ever made out there on 3, and then his first hole-in-one.”

The eagle Tiger mentioned happened four years ago. The ace this year came after Tiger and Charlie birdied the first two holes and parred the third.

Moments after making his ace, Charlie spoke with Golf Channel’s Jim “Bones” Mackay in a walk-and-talk on TV and told him it was a 7-iron. He also admitted that at first he didn’t even see it go in. He said as much in the post-round interview.

“It was just a perfect 7-iron, little cut in there. Of course never got to see it go in. So that sucks. But that’s all right,” Charlie said.

Team Woods would come up short, falling on the first playoff hole to Bernhard Langer and his son Jason. During the trophy ceremony, Bernhard talked about the Charlie ace.

“I truly enjoyed playing with Tiger. They are such wonderful competitors and great humans,” he said. “It was fun to see the two of them out there together and when Charlie made that hole-in-one, I’ve never seen Tiger happier.”

Even better, daughter Sam is on the bag for Tiger this week, so everyone got to be on hand for all the fun.

Paddy Harrington made an ace of his own less than an hour later. His came on the par-3 eighth hole. The two Sunday aces were the second and third in the history of the PNC. All three aces have been made by the kids.
